2nd Young Surveyors African Meeting – 25 & 26 November 2019
FIG Young Surveyors continue with our history of networking, expanding our horizon, and making the surveying world smaller, this time in Dakar, Senegal.
The FIG Young Surveyors Network are joining hands with the Young Surveyors of the Federation of Francophone Surveyors (FGF) for a two-day meeting, the 2nd Young Surveyors African Meeting (2YSAM), that will that will bring together anglophone and francophone young surveyors in a bilingual meeting! The two-day event will provide an environment for Young Surveyors indeed from different cultures, countries, and educational backgrounds to discuss the problems facing their region, and to also open up to exciting new trends in our profession. The 2YSAM will be held along with the 2019 FGF Universities & FIG African Regional Network Meeting.
The theme of the meeting, “Connecting the Generations for our Common Future”, highlights our goal to come together to find ways, as surveyors, to sustain our planet for the future generation. Much as can be seen from the logo for the event, a Baobab tree, a tree so large and resilient to climate change, disease, and deforestation. Its broad branches provide a common place for the current generation to meet, and its long lifespan signifies a connection between generations.
The 2nd YSAM is a two-days event that provides an environment for Young Surveyors from different cultures, countries, academic qualifications, and professional experience to discuss the issues facing their region, and plan for a resilient future.
Join us to connect and learn the importance of geospatial information and how it can be used to create harmony among the spatial, social, economical and environmental aspects of a city and inhabitants.
